PLEASE NOTE – This video is from 2008, shortly after I started having seizures. IT REFLECTS THE FEELINGS AT THE TIME. It is now late 2011, and I am still having seizures and difficulties, with no diagnosis, and I can see the drastic difference in MYSELF from this video until NOW. (For example – speaking in a train of thought? IMPOSSIBLE NOW.) Please keep that in mind before you HATE or thumb this down.
It’s my reality. www.meltingmama.net

I feel your pain
Not literally, I didn’t have the surgery or anything. But I’m here on youtube watching videos about becoming a dietician/nutritionist, and I came across your video. I want to help people deal with their health problems without suffering the consequences of having surgery like you did now. You put that on my heart. I’m so sorry girl, I wish there was someone to give you better advice. Agape.

I’m sorry your doctor didn’t tell you these things.. These are just WLS side effects.. You look misersble… A def in iron and being hypo… It’s nothing compared to what you have had developed over time being over weight… or u r gonna tell me you rather be a diabetic than hypo… You look and feel miserabl

I admire your honesty re WLS and the long term consequences of life long choices for ones body. I always wondered the long term results of the surgery for the majority and the mental health issues behind the weight and what happens 2, 3 4 years down the line. Keep on telling your truth re this subject. I wish you and everybody well. Peace love and contentment too all:D

I wish doctors could help people eat better. I wish media would encourage it.
I mean, if you can see a million commercials for Taco Bell this and McDonald’s that, then why can’t they (media) push for health? There should be a million commercials for that. I mean, you’ll see a million commercials for gastric surgery before you’ll see something about promoting health. And in the end, it’s nothing wrong with being overweight. Just love yourself and try to eat better. PLEASE!

There’s a big bias on the net pro-weight loss surgery. Some “support” groups will fry you if you don’t sing the song of a perfect experience. Remember that most of their financing comes from places selling weight loss surgery. Fact is fact. It’s a life saver for most of people who have it. But a measurable % are left just as incapacitated as obesity, just differently. And to the person who is 190 and wants surgery, no way. That thinking gives WLS a bad name. It’s not meant for overweight.

I am getting my bypass surgery on the 21st of March 2011-two weeks from now! I am so excited! I hate that you have had a bad experience. For myself, I am educated and aware of the risks. I am taking preventive measures for the hair loss by taking vitamins and Biotin 5000 mcg. I weigh 324 lbs. I am losing weight on my own. I was 450lbs on Dec. 31, 2009. I have co-morbid conditions with a BMI of 49. I have had several surgeries the past few years. In 07′ I had 4 major surgeries within 4 months! I

I was revisiting and I think if those interested would do all the research and make better decisions with the choices available it make work out for some people. to say eat less/exercise more is easier said than done for us with other problems. I understand the help you are offering. If you had no back pain, leg or foot pain issues you Were really blessed . I don’t feel yours was All vanity. I weigh only 217 and this is hard for Me to carry. bad knees, high blood pressure etc. not diabetic

Sorry to har about your plight hut, has anyone tewsted you to see if you have Fibroids? I was seriously anemic and once had a reading of 1 for blood count. Transfusions are not on my list and even when I went for surgery for hysterectomy I didn’t want any transfusions and lucky didn’t need it. I don’t have any harmone replacement. just overweight from being lazy and arthritic knees. had/have high blood but might want lipo/tuck to solve my eight issues. I hear what you’re saying. Thanks :=))

@lyndeelee in YouTube I seem to run across many people lap band did not work for- at least not work well. I have to wonder if it is an age thing- if it works better for younger people? I hope you have better success with gastric bypass. For now I will continue the whole…attempt to change lifestyle. Which…is still a real b!@#!@ for me. But for now, I am not ready for surgical intervention.

I think a lot of people need to see this video. It’s the longer term result that many of us do not consider. It was good of you to admit the problems, and being a fat person I understand why you did it. There is no easy answer to the obesity problem.

If you hair is falling out,why not take Biotin 5000mg. It really does help. Do you take b12 and multivitamins everyday?

I had a lap band placed in May of 2005. I would not recommend a lap band to anybody. I did not lose weight even though I ate one third of what I normally ate. I gagged and upchucked a lot. I completely followed the program for several years.
I developed a hiatel hernia and severe acid reflux. The band was removed this past March (2010). The hernia was repaired and a gastric bypass was done.
I can only speak for myself but the band experience was a nightmare for me.
