I’m 6′5" and about 270. I have a large frame. I just got a gym membership a week ago and have been going pretty consistently so far. I need a good routine though. My goals for now are weight loss, core strength and definition. I’ll worry about muscle gain later.

Make your gym routine to about 3 times a week. That way its not too intense and its just about achievable
Don’t do much weights for now….so you won’t gain much muscle and you will lose calories.

Now for your definition…by which i assume you mean weight loss and weight gain in the right areas….this is all about naturally losing the fat content first and then building up your frame. Once you start going to the gym..whatever you do..the fats will always go from the heavy areas…and after 2 months or so..when you are ready to gain muscle ..you can work the right areas!

I have a friends wedding in two weeks and need to lose some belly fat quickly. I’m not bothered about keeping it off or long term weight loss so don’t warn me off fad diets or quick weight loss I just want to lose some weight for the photos and then I’ll go back to normal!

1. Jogging in early morning.
2. Some swimming.
3. Controlled diet.
4. No junk foods.

really works if you becomes strict and regular

Please don’t write me a long ass message about how weight loss pills don’t work. I simply want to hear other peoples experiences. if it did work for you please let me know the info, the name of the pill, how much weight you lost, ect

Short message: They don’t work.

I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE THE LAP BAND weight loss SURGERY BUT MY INSURANCE DOES NOT COVER IT. I HAVE BLUE CROSS BLUE SHIELDS I NEED TO KNOW WHICH COMPANY I SHOULD GET A POLICY FROM TO COVER THR COST OF SURERY.

Lap band surgery may be covered by many different companies but it will depend upon the plan and what state you live in. Both individual and group policies may cover lap band.

In most cases you must have a BMI of 40 or greater to be a candidate for lap band. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but individual policies have a height and weight guideline. If you are a candidate for lap band you will be out of those guidelines and will be declined.

I will be starting either Weight Watchers, Jenny Craig, or NutriSystem, I would like to hear about your experiences. Thank you for your input! I will be using their food which I understand I will need to supplement. I will also be joining the YMCA so exercise will be a big part of my weight loss strategy.

weight watchers for sure!!

its basically not even a diet and you shed pounds easily, healthy and eating whatever you want.

i’m actually trying to lose some extra pounds so i’m going to start back on it (:

good luck and God bless!

just wondering — if an otherwise healthy person wants to lose weight and start eating more vegetables and fruits, and exercising, what is the logic behind going to a doctor? What questions are there to ask and what can a doctor do? I’m talking about losing 30 lbs at the most so it’s not much. If a person has no medical problems — what do you say when you make the appointment? it just seems a bit silly to make an appointment to ask about losing weight if you already know what you’re supposed to do.

The reason I ask is that I don’t really have a doctor as I’ve not needed one in a long time, so it seems a bit silly to find one just for that purpose.

I made a doctors appointment because there may be some underlying health problems that you don’t know about. People over the age of 20 should get their cholesterol checked once a year and since you haven’t been in awhile you should at least go and have that checked. Also they might have a better plan that you could try that will yield the healthiest and longest lasting results.

Has anyone had success with this center or are their any recommendations I have 2 months before the wedding.

No I haven’t used it or heard of it. What worked for me was a more organic approach. Walking and treadmill exercise are great ways to lose weight. I incorporated the treadmill into my weight loss routine along with taking desert burn hoodia and honestly the weight started falling off. It’s simple really, if you control your appetite and are eating less and you exercise more it’s a great formula to drop as much weight as you desire. What I liked best about hoodia was that I didn’t feel like I was dieting. It took away my hunger and I didn’t feel all lightheaded and run down like can happen when you cut back caloric intake. I had plenty of energy and hiking was more enjoyable and effective as I lost my weight. Watching what you eat is great and it sounds like you just need to fine tune your approach to your weight loss. When I was dieting (and believe me I still watch my weight even though I have achieved my weight loss goals for the most part) I realized right off that the most important thing is to control your appetite. If your stomach’s not always growling and your not always craving food it is sooo much easier to stick to your guns and stay on your diet. With hoodia I would literally go a whole day sometimes and simply forget to eat and I didn’t get tired and run down like diets can sometimes make you feel. Once my appetite was under control and I wasn’t always thinking about eating then and only then could the weight start coming off consistently and steadily because the hoodia kept my mind off of food and I would go longer on my diet and as I did that naturally I lost weight. You have to remember that consistency is very important when losing weight. If you cut back a little on your food consumption everyday your body will change (stomach will shrink and you won’t be eating as much) and with that consistency over a few days, weeks and months you will lose weight just like I did and you will be in the best shape of your life like you desire!!! Hope this helps.

I’m a guy. And I needa burn fat from my abdomen, how do I go about doing this? I know crunches and sit ups are useless. I have dumbbells, what can I do with those that can help me?
Also, do you think running could help? I wanna start running. Thanks.

Yes running will help a lot….Try using your dumbbells holding them over your head and doing a small sit up its extremely helpfull. The biggest thing is diet. Eat a lot of lean chicken ( I eat it at least twice daily) and cut back on fried sides go for broccoli (which is my favorite). Also no sugary drinks, they are the worst.

I’m a 20 year old female thats 5′7” 160 lbs. All the fat is around my waist(love handles and tummy). I am planning on taking summer courses in my college for june and july and want to lose 30 lbs then. I have hypothyroid so it is difficult to lose weight but I feel like if I don’t lose it now I will just get bigger. I can’t eat red meat and I want to actually feel full when I eat. I signed up for 14 meals a week. Please give me advice on a good meal and exercise plan for me. Thanks!

Become a vegetarian and visit the athletic center three times a week. Lay off the sweet stuff, go easy on the carbs. Choose whole grains and brown rice, you know, eat smarter, be more active basically.

Dr. Angelo Tremblay’s study showed high intensity is great. The "9 times more fat loss thing " is exaggerated and did NOT happen, but HIIT is still good.

I guarantee you lift weight hard for 45 minutes you WILL burn A LOT of calories and lose weight.

So WHY do CERTAIN people on here claim this?

did you know that this person’s IM is "lisahasapussy"?
